FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
My insurance company wants me to get one or more estimates, do I have to do that?
No, most insurance companies can have their own appraisers estimate your vehicle. If they do not have their own appraisers they can hire an independent appraisal service to do this for them. Some insurance companies have select collision shops that can write estimates for them. Remember that if your company is paying for the repairs, you hired them when you paid your insurance premium. They should be working for you not the other way around.
Do I decide where to have my vehicle repaired or the insurance company?
You decide. No matter what they tell you it is your decision, whether its your insurance company paying for the repairs or the other company.
How do I choose a reputable collision shop?
We rely heavily on repeat and referral work, so ask friends, relatives and neighbors about their experience. We tell our customers, if they are satisfied with the service we provided to tell others, if not tell us so we may remedy the situation. The insurance company may try and direct you to a shop of their choice. Remember, it is your decision, not theirs.
How long will the repairs take?
There are many things to consider before answering the question. 1) Parts availability. We order parts ahead of the scheduled in date, so they are here before your vehicle comes in. 2) Parts backorder. Sometimes additional parts may be required after repairs are started and these end up on backorder, which means a delay in the scheduled out date. We make every attempt to foresee any additional parts that may be needed once your vehicle is dismantled. 3) The insurance company we will be working with. Many companies required one of their appraisers to come to the shop to re-inspect the additional damage. This can cause a delay depending on how long it takes the appraiser to come out.
Are the repairs guaranteed?
Yes. We guarantee the repairs for as long as you own the vehicle. Parts are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, all labor and workmanship is covered by us.
What are the aftermarket parts or quality replacement parts, and should I accept these for the repair of my vehicle?
Aftermarket, designated on the estimate as A/M or Quality Replacement Parts (QRP), are parts that are made by the manufacturer other than the original vehicle manufacturer (OEM). Many insurance companies require the use of these parts for the repairs of your vehicle. While these parts have been improving over the years, some do not fit as good as the OEM parts. This can mean a delay in the repairs of your vehicle. You have the right as the vehicle owner and policy holder to specify the use of all of the OEM parts. However, you may be responsible for the difference in cost from A/M to OEM. We will be happy to discuss your options with you. Our position is to use all OEM parts whenever possible.
